What is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)?

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is generally an elective cosmetic surgery performed to reduce wrinkles below the eye. This has the effect of improving the puffy bags under the eyes that generally appear as a result of aging.

Blepharoplasty surgery is carried out under a general anesthetic and generally is complete within 1 to 3 hours. The results of eyelid surgery take a number of months to become stabilized however the immediate effects of surgery (bruising and swelling) subside within 1 to two weeks.
